A native of Glastonbury, Peter C. Dzialo began his cello studies at age 4 with Carl Shugart in Wethersfield, Connecticut. In 2000 he was named Governor's Scholar representing Connecticut at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. At age 17 he entered the Yale Graduate School of Music where he completed his cello studies with Aldo Parisot and composition with Ezra Leadermann. Since graduating he has been pursuing an independent cello career of performance and recording.
To be released later this year are his recordings of the major solo cello works of the 19th century: the Etudes of David Popper and Caprices of Alfredo Piatti. His upcoming recording projects include the never before recorded solo works of the 20th century's great French cellist/composers: Louis Abbiate and Paul Tortelier.
Peter will play these pieces tonight in our concert program (as well as sing baritone in our choral selections):
Allegro Spiritoso by Jean Baptiste Senaille
Nocturne by David Popper
Spanish Carnival by David Popper
Peter's accompanist is Natasha Ulyanovsky.
